Loading Up and Moving Out

So we are off! Yesterday morning, we pulled out of our driveway after a busy week of packing, organizing, and all the last minute things you have to do.  We safely loaded the camper onto the truck, ourselves and the dogs into the truck, and kissed our youngest son Burke and my dad Larry goodbye.

After a 7 hour drive, we arrived Fair Harbor RV park in Perry, Georgia. Not the most exciting place to stay, but we enjoyed it’s proximity to the highway, pretty pond-front site, goats, and birds. The dogs enjoyed the stroll around the campground and we enjoyed a small fire. Our first dinner of Garlic Shrimp and Brown Rice from the Instapot with Kale salad was a hit.

Please excuse the errors of this first blog: the pictures and videos are not in the right order, but I got too frustrated to try to fix it. I hope you get the idea…

Introduction

We are Vic and Lynda V and have 2 dogs (Vizslas) named Agi and Bodi.  This is partly how we chose our Blog name "V's on Tour".  While our last name has a lot of letters in it, Vic has been a doctor over 30 years and for simplicity, staff around him call him "Dr. V" or just simply "V". We have been married for 28 years, raised four kids, and have taken this time to take an epic journey with our 2 senior dogs by road to see what this amazing continent has to offer.  While on the road, Vic will be writing a book, therefore justifying his approved sabbatical from the university he is currently employed.  I will hope to have a better understanding of what he is writing as the trip progresses.

As I am writing this, we are in our final weeks of preparation before we embark on this adventure.  We will be traveling in a 2021 Host Rainier slide-in truck camper mounted on the bed of a 2020 Ford F-350 dually.  We purchased these in the middle of the pandemic in May 2020 and have enjoyed many trips during this time.  This trip has been in the planning stages for the past 12 months.  We will be exploring both USA and Canada, so many factors must be considered.
